As well as being a chance to get up close and personal with the stars in an intimate atmosphere, what makes the Baloise Session particularly special is the fact that it combines several concerts with different artists in one evening. Artists of a common stylistic, historical or geographical thread or who share some other similarity come together to tell one musical story.
Music does us good, reflects all facets of our life and, quite simply, brings people together. Those are just some of the reasons why Baloise Insurance is placing music at the forefront of its long-term sponsorship activities.
The Baloise Session emerged from a festival known as the Rheinknie Session, which was launched back in autumn 1985. After following a musical direction focused on blues, jazz and gospel from 1988 onwards, the Session extended its repertoire as of 1995 to include world music, soul and funk. This saw the festival rejuvenated and has helped it attract more international artists. Since 2013, Baloise has been the presenting sponsor, thus giving the Session its current name. Baloise has secured the future of this popular intimate-setting musical event until 2025.
And it is not just the audiences at the Baloise Session that can enjoy the music on offer. All of the concerts are released worldwide in more than 140 countries on all five continents. You can also hear the Baloise Session on the radio (SRF 1, SRF 3).
We take our social responsibility as a company seriously. As such, the companies of the Baloise Group have a tradition of active involvement in cultural and sporting life. They support a number of institutions and events which form an established part of social life in their region. This allows us as a company to interact with customers and partners, and to offer our various stakeholders exclusive experiences, providing our sponsor recipients with a reliable partner in the process. One example of this is our involvement in the music industry dating back more than 20 years, and our launch of an overarching umbrella concept under the label “Baloise goes Music” in 2013. This comprises our commitment as presenting sponsor of the Baloise Session and Baloise Exclusive – a stand-alone event linked with the festival. These platforms are accompanied by a dedicated Swiss-wide concert tour – Baloise on Tour – and Baloise Only, a concert specially for our employees. These four platforms allow us to speak to more than 20,000 concert attendees every year in an emotive manner, and thus to make a contribution to musical diversity in Switzerland.
