Basel, December 16, 2024. Andrea Kleiner is to become the new Head of Business Clients at Baloise in Switzerland on 1 April 2025, joining the Executive Committee. She is taking over from Executive Committee member Patric Olivier Zbinden, who will in future be heading up the Customer Service division.

Andrea Kleiner brings a wealth of managerial experience and a comprehensive track record in the insurance industry. Having graduated with a degree in biochemistry from ETH Zurich, gained an MBA from Cornell University in Ithaca and a Certificate in Insurance Management from the University of St. Gallen, she completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University in Boston in 2024.

Andrea started her career in 2000 with professional services company Accenture, before moving to Boston Consulting Group in 2004 and then Swiss Life in 2008. At Swiss Life she played a key role in establishing process management and digitalising the value chain for private clients.

Andrea joined Die Mobiliar in 2016, where she held a number of key functions and made a decisive contribution to growing profit and positioning the company in the non-life business. As head of personal insurance, she brought about permanent improvements in efficiency by introducing a new system of portfolio management and modernising the contract process.

Andrea went on to become head of the private customer segment. In this capacity she had profit and loss responsibility for underwriting in the private customer business, which comprised the personal transport, household and legal insurance units. She also headed up a strategic project to refresh the corporate strategy.

Andrea joined the executive board of Die Mobiliar as head of business development in 2021. This position saw her drive core projects forward, including digital transformation and the development of new business models. She was responsible for the analytics and AI strategy across the group and for group-wide innovations management. Andrea oversaw important M&A transactions and led cross-divisional digitalisation projects. Through these initiatives, Andrea shaped the company’s strategic direction and its ability to remain competitive.

By appointing Andrea Kleiner to Baloise’s Executive Committee, we are reiterating our commitment to the strategic goals that we announced in our investor updates in September 2024. With her experience in business model transformation, digital innovation and the optimisation of processes, Andrea will help to drive the implementation of our insurance business initiatives in order to ensure profitable growth, enhanced efficiency and a sustained increase in gross premiums in the period until 2027.

“Andrea Kleiner is a very experienced, visionary and customer-focused leader. She combines strategic thinking with a drive to get things done and brings the expertise needed to take the Business Clients division forward, strengthen Baloise’s role as a dependable partner for businesses, and fully exploit opportunities in growth fields. With her comprehensive skillset, Andrea is an ideal addition to Baloise’s Executive Committee,” said Clemens Markstein, CEO of Baloise in Switzerland.
