Baloise takes great care to protect your privacy when processing your personal data. We process your personal data in compliance with the Swiss law on data protection (PDF, 161 KB) and in accordance with the following principles:
Use and transmission of personal data limited to specific purposes
Your personal data is only used for the specific purpose that is specified when it is collected, readily apparent from the context or provided for by law. It may also be used for internal marketing purposes. Our employees are under obligation to maintain confidentiality, to observe the law on data protection and – if banking services are provided – to maintain banking secrecy. Your personal data will not be disclosed to third parties without your consent.
Recording of access data and IP addresses
When you visit our websites, our web server routinely stores your internet protocol address (IP address), the website from which you accessed ours, the webpages you click into, and the date and duration of your visit.
This website uses technology provided by etracker GmbH to collect and store user data in an anonymised form for marketing and optimisation purposes. On the basis of this data, user profiles are created under a pseudonym. Cookies may be used for this purpose. Cookies are small text files that are stored locally in the cache of the website visitor’s internet browser. Cookies facilitate recognition of the web browser, but the data they collect is only compiled and stored under pseudonyms. The data is not used to personally identify visitors to this website and is not combined with data pertaining to the bearer of the pseudonym.
Please note that the internet is a global, open network. When you transmit data over the internet, you always do so at your own risk. Data transmitted by you is protected by means of Secure Socket Layer (SSL), which provides 128-bit encryption. Despite comprehensive technical and organisational security measures being taken, data may be lost or intercepted and/or manipulated by unauthorised persons. Baloise takes appropriate technical and organisational security measures to prevent such occurrences within the Baloise Group systems. Your computer, however, is beyond the reach of the Baloise Group’s IT security measures. It is therefore your responsibility, as the user, to obtain information about the necessary security precautions and to take appropriate measures.
Users who no longer wish to receive our newsletter may unsubscribe from it at any time via the link provided in the respective issue of the newsletter.
Scope of application of the data protection declaration
This declaration on data protection applies to all Baloise Group websites. Our websites may contain links to other providers who do not come under the scope of this data protection declaration.
Integration of third-party services and content
Our website content consists to some extent of third party content, such as videos from YouTube, maps from Google Maps, RSS feeds or graphics from other websites. This requires that the providers of such content (hereinafter referred to as “Third-Party Providers”) can detect your IP address. Without this IP address, the Third-Party Providers cannot send the content to your browser. The IP address is therefore required in order to enable the display of this content. We make every effort to use content from providers that use the IP address only for the delivery of such content. However, we cannot influence whether or not Third-Party Providers use the IP address for statistical purposes, for example. We inform users if we are aware of any such usage.
This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc., which is based in Mountain View, California, USA (“Google”).
Google Analytics uses so-called cookies, which are text files that are stored on your computer and allow analysis of your use of the website. The information about the use of this website that is generated by the cookie is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. Your IP address will also be transferred, but it will be anonymised at Google before it is saved, so that it can no longer be linked to you. Google uses the _anonymizeIp() method for this.
The following data about the use of our website may be stored and analysed anonymously and exclusively for statistical purposes:
- the pages visited and their sequence of use,
- the operating system and browser used,
- the date and time of the page views,
- the address of the website visited directly beforehand, if your visit has been made via a direct link to us from there and
- information about the origin.
Google may extend this list and transfer information to third parties if required by law or to the extent that third parties process the data on behalf of Google.

Social media and advertising
Social media cookies give us the opportunity to connect to your social networks and share content from our sites via social networking channels. Advertising cookies (third-party providers) collect information that helps better adapt advertising to your interests. In some cases, the use of these cookies involves the processing of your personal data. If you block these cookies, you may be shown ads that are not relevant to you, or you may not be able to create a connection to Facebook, Twitter or other social networks, or share content on social networks.
If you want a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of all third-party access to your internet browser, we recommend that you install a browser plugin created for this purpose. You can also configure your computer to issue a warning whenever a cookie is sent. Alternatively, you can also disable all cookies. For this, you can change the browser settings in any browser you use and on any device you use. Each browser has small differences. You can look in the Help menu in your browser to find out how to change your cookie settings. If you disable cookies, the result may be that you do not have access to numerous applications that make the pages and apps more efficient, and some of our services may no longer work for you.
Facebook remarketing / retargeting
Our pages have remarketing tags from the social media network Facebook, 1601 South California Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA, integrated into them. When you visit our pages, the remarketing tags establish a direct connection between your browser and the Facebook server. Facebook is thereby informed that you, and your IP address, have visited our website. This allows Facebook to associate the visit to our pages with your user account. The information obtained in this way can be used by us to display Facebook Ads. We would like to point out here that we do not receive any details of the content of the data that is transmitted, or its use by Facebook. Further information about this is available in Facebook's data protection declaration, at https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/. If you do not want to have data collected via Custom Audience, you can deactivate Custom Audience here.
Buttons for the Twitter service are integrated into our pages. The buttons are provided by Twitter Inc., 795 Folsom St., Suite 600, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. They are recognisable by the use of terms such as “Twitter” or “Follow”, accompanied by a blue bird symbol. These buttons can be used to share a post or page on Twitter or to follow us on Twitter.
Pressing these buttons results in your browser establishing a direct connection with the Twitter servers. The content of the Twitter buttons is sent directly from Twitter to your browser. We would like to point out here that we do not receive any details of the content of the data that is transmitted, or its use by Twitter.
Further information about this is available in Twitter's data protection declaration, at http://twitter.com/privacy.
Social plugins are additional programs that are integrated into our website via a predefined interface and extend its range of functions.

If you want to deactivate Google Analytics, the relevant browser add-on is available at http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de.

However, we hereby point out that you may not be able to fully utilise all the functions of this website if you do this.
Please note that the internet is a global, open network. When you transmit data over the internet, you always do this at your own risk.
The personal data transmitted by you is protected using encryption mechanisms (Secure Socket Layer) that are compliant with the current security standard. Despite comprehensive technical and organisational security measures being taken, data may be lost or intercepted and/or manipulated by unauthorised persons. Baloise takes appropriate technical and organisational security measures to prevent such occurrences within the Baloise systems. Your computer, however, is outside the scope of the Baloise IT security measures. It is therefore your responsibility, as the user, to obtain information about the necessary security precautions and to take appropriate measures. Baloise is under no circumstances liable for any damage that may result from loss or manipulation of data.
Secure Socket Layer (= SSL)
Secure Socket Layer (SSL) is a protocol for enabling secure data transmission via the internet. Most browsers support this procedure. SSL uses the public key method, in which data encrypted using a publicly accessible key can only be decrypted using a specific private key. Most browsers use a key or padlock symbol to indicate whether the connection is secure or not secure.
Right of access and rectification
On request, we will inform you in writing whether we have stored personal information about you and what personal information we have stored. If, despite all our efforts to keep our details correct and up-to-date, incorrect information has been stored, we will amend it upon receiving your request to do so.
Scope of application of the data protection declaration
