By communicating measures we have implemented (such as the broadening and intensifying of our responsible investment approach with a dedicated set of environmental guidelines and active ownership guidelines), providing information on our ongoing measurement of customer satisfaction and integrating sustainability and climate risks into our risk management guidelines, we were able to secure an upgrade from MSCI in 2021 from BBB to A (based on a scale of CCC to AAA). In addition, Sustainalytics upgraded Baloise’s ESG rating by 3.2 points, from 23.6 to 20.4, ensuring we remain in the medium risk category. By initially providing data for the SAM Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) by S&P in 2020, we began a process of continuous improvement, increasing our score from 23 to 34 (the threshold for acceptance into the Dow Jones Sustainability Index World is 85).
