Baloise has been able to continuously improve its ratings by ESG rating agencies in recent years. In 2022, Baloise was upgraded by MSCI from A to AA (on a scale of CCC-AAA). In addition, Sustainalytics and S&P improved their rating for Baloise from 23.6 to 20.4 (Sustainalytics scale ranging from 0-40) and from 34 to 43 (Dow Jones Sustainability Index scale ranging from 1-100), respectively. Factors contributing to the rating improvements were the expansion of our responsible investment approach through a dedicated climate and active ownership policy. In addition, the topics of governance, customer satisfaction, risk management, and the introduction of exclusions in underwriting had a positive impact on the rating.
