Maintaining a clear focus on employees, customers and shareholders, Baloise is setting itself ambitious targets for future growth over the next few years with its “Simply Safe” strategy.

Growth in a sustainable sense

Baloise launched a realignment in 2017 with the “Simply Safe” strategic direction. In doing so, we set ourselves the ambition of further strengthening our core business while simultaneously becoming an innovative provider of solutions that go beyond the traditional insurance business amidst a changing society.

In 2021, we successfully completed the first phase of “Simply Safe”. With “Simply Safe: Season 2”, we want to build on the successes achieved so we can continue to make a positive contribution in the lives of our customers and thus play an essential role in their lives.

With the “Simply Safe” strategy programme, we want to keep Baloise fit for the future and grow sustainably: customer focus is at the heart of this new strategy. We want to remain the first choice for anyone who simply wants to feel safe – today and in the future. This is not only about covering and insuring risks, but also about addressing the wider needs of our stakeholders in a changing social environment.

With a clear focus and three ambitious goals in the dimensions of employees, customers and shareholders, we are continuing our strategic journey towards sustainable profitable growth.

With this concentration and a heavy focus on customers and employees, Baloise emphasises that the aspects of sustainable management cannot be considered unconnected from a company’s business management.

A long-term approach

Insurance arose from the idea of mutually supportive communities. The strength of a mutually supportive community for the purpose of insurance lies in the fact that it is more than the sum of its parts. However much care is taken, the individual is exposed to risks that can be better handled and managed in the community through the sharing of risks and costs. Naturally, this only applies if the community of insured persons is organised effectively and efficiently. We are therefore always aware as an insurer of how important it is to take responsibility and put our actions at the service of sustainable development. Nothing about this has changed at its core since Baloise’s founding in the 19th century. Insurance companies are still based on a community of insured persons. As Baloise, we coordinate and manage this community and look after it in the interest of the various stakeholders.
